Jalandhar: The Department of Food Science and Technology in collaboration with IIC recently organized a community outreach program under DBT Star college scheme for students of Government Senior Secondary School, Talwandi Bangerian, Moga. The visit was accompanied by teachers Snt Harjit Kaur, Mr Gurjinder Singh, and Mrs Amandeep Kaur. Head of Department, Prof Bhartendu Singla, introduced the students to the Department of Food Science and Technology, highlighting its importance and applications. He highlighted the bright prospects of Food Technology as subject for students of agriculture state like Punjab Prof Pankaj Gupta conducted a practical demonstration of adulteration testing of milk and Desi ghee, providing students with hands-on experience and valuable insights into food safety.
The program concluded with Prof Anu Gupta proposing a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the students and faculty members for their participation and engagement. The outreach program aimed to educate and inspire students about food science and technology, fostering interest and awareness in the field. Students and faculty members of Government Senior Secondary School, Talwandi Bangerian, Moga expressed heartfelt thanks to DAV College, Jalandhar, for organizing such an enriching activity, noting that it significantly enhanced their knowledge and practical skills in food science.
Principal Dr. Anoop Kumar lauded the initiative, stating, “Such outreach programs bridge the gap between school education and higher learning, inspiring young minds to pursue science with curiosity and confidence.
