Jalandhar: The Red Cross Society of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organized a seminar on Cancer Awareness in collaboration with Fortis Hospital. The programme aimed at spreading awareness among young women about breast cancer and the importance of its early detection. Dr. Navdeep Singh from Fortis Hospital was the resource person on the occasion. He delivered an informative talk on breast cancer, highlighting its symptoms, preventive measures, and common myths associated with the disease. He emphasized that breast cancer can be effectively controlled with timely diagnosis and proper treatment. He also demonstrated the technique of self-breast examination and encouraged students to go for regular health check-ups. Stressing the importance of a healthy lifestyle, he stated that balanced diet and regular exercise play a significant role in prevention. He advised that any unusual symptom should never be ignored and immediate medical consultation must be sought.
Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla lauded the efforts of Red Cross Society Advisor Mrs. Deepshikha and In-charge Mrs.Pawan Kumari for successfully organizing the seminar. She remarked that breast cancer is a rapidly growing concern among women, but it can be overcome through awareness, timely screening, and proper treatment. She further added that social hesitation, fear, and lack of awareness often prevent women from seeking medical help at the right time, and such seminars provide the much- needed guidance. She expressed hope that more such awareness programmes would be conducted in future to contribute towards building a healthy and aware society. Mrs. Deepshikha , Advisor of the Red Cross Society, extended a vote of thanks to the resource person and said that the valuable information shared during the session would greatly benefit the students. She described the seminar as a significant and much-needed initiative for safeguarding women’s health. Dr. Saloni Sharma, Dr. Vandana Thakur, Medical Officer Dr. Jasbir were also present.
