Jalandhar: The Department of Computer Science at DAV College Jalandhar successfully organized its annual IT Fest 2026, under the aegis of the IT Forum. The fest is a flagship event of the department, held every year to felicitate winners of various technical competitions conducted throughout the academic session. The event this year was coordinated under the guidance of the Prof. Monika Chopra, President IT Forum.
Dr. Anoop Kumar, Principal of the college, extended his best wishes to the students and faculty for the successful organization of the fest and appreciated the department’s continuous efforts towards holistic student development. Dr. Nischay Bahl, Head, Department of Computer Science, welcomed the guests, students and other faculty members of the college. In his welcome speech, Dr. Bahl conveyed his best wishes to all participants and encouraged them to give their best in every endeavour.
The event commenced with a formal inaugural session, where Dr. Kunwer Rajeev, Vice Principal, addressed the gathering and motivated students to remain focused on their goals and strive for excellence in their academic and professional pursuits. Mr. Amit, an esteemed alumnus of the department was the chief guest for the morning session. He shared his experiences from his student days and inspired students to work hard with dedication and perseverance to achieve success in life.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Harsh Verma, Professor in the Department of Computer Science at National Institute of Technology Jalandhar, graced the occasion in the post lunch session and lauded the initiative of organizing such events that promote technical competence and creativity among students. He encouraged students to actively engage in co-curricular activities alongside academics.
The fest featured a series of vibrant cultural and modelling competitions on the concluding day, providing a dynamic platform for students to showcase their talent, confidence, and creativity. In the modelling segment, Varinder was adjudged Mr. Fresher, while Simran was crowned Ms. Fresher. Ajay received the title of Mr. IT and Manasavi was crowned Ms. IT. Other titles included Neha as Ms. Elegant, Mukta as Ms. Gorgeous, and Namit as Mr. Handsome. The Best Dress-up (Male) title was awarded to Arshdeep, while Himanshi secured the Best Dress-up (Female) title.
In the performing arts category, Ms. Chahat won the Solo Dance competition, while Mr. Vishwajeet secured the first position in Solo Singing. The Duo Dance competition was won by Aish and Mehak. The Group Dance competition saw an impressive performance by Dhruv, Sujal, Satyam, and Eklove, who emerged as winners.
The reel making competition was won by Sunny and Digital poster making competition was won by Parth. Sukhbir won the Tech Debate and Abhishek & Priya won the Model Making competition. Pallavi won the Poster making competition whereas Sunil Yadav won the coding competition. Priya, Krish and jashanjot won IT Quiz, Vibe coding and Chess competitions recpectively. Winners of both technical and cultural events held throughout the year were felicitated with prizes and certificates in recognition of their achievements. Prof. Vishal Sharma, Dr. Lalit Goyal, Prof. Amit Sharma, Dr. Leekha Jindal, Dr. Rajeev Puri, Prof. Ritika Sobti, Prof. Namarta Kapoor, Prof. Gagan Madaan, Prof. Parvinder Kaur, Prof. Surbhi from teaching department handled various committees and helped students in preparing for the stage handling, decoration, cultural events, hospitality and other aspects for the event. Sh. Sunder Lal, Sh. Satwinder, Sh. Sanjeev Guleria, Sh.Deepak, Ms. Bhawna, Ms. Little, Ms. Sneh and Ms. Seema from non teaching department provided their whole hearted support for the successful organization of the event. Prof. Monika delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the distinguished guests, faculty members, participants, and the organizing team for their valuable contributions in making the event a grand success. The fest concluded on a high note, celebrating innovation, talent, and the spirit of healthy competition among students.
